可燃性氣體，係指丙烯晴、丙烯醛、乙炔、乙醛、氨、一氧化碳、乙烷、乙胺、乙苯、乙烯、氯乙烷、氯甲烷、氯乙烯、環氧乙烷、環氧丙烷、氰化氫、環丙烷、二甲胺、氫、三甲胺、二硫化碳、丁二烯、丁烷、丁烯、丙烷、丙烯、溴甲烷、苯、甲烷、甲胺、二甲醚、硫化氫及其他爆炸下限在百分之十以下或爆炸上限與下限之差在百分之二十以上之氣體。
可燃性氣體低溫儲槽，係將大氣壓時沸點為攝氏零度以下之可燃性氣體於攝氏零度以下或以該氣體氣相部分之常用壓力於每平方公分一公斤以下液態下儲存，並使用絕熱材料被覆或利用冷凍設備冷卻，使槽內氣體溫度不致上升至常用溫度之儲槽。
氫氣、甲烷及氨比空氣更輕，偵測器安裝位置應該高於潛在漏逸來源，於密閉空間內應裝設在氣體可能聚集( 所謂的氣巢/氣袋)之處。其他易燃氣體(例如：丙烷及丁烷)及蒸氣(例如：甲醇及甲苯)比空氣重，這些氣體或蒸氣可能流經地表並覆蓋廣大範圍。為了及早偵測到漏逸，偵測器必須儘可能裝設的越低越好。當然，以 上狀況不包含任何可能影響自然氣體/蒸氣流動之主動通風抽氣系統。
